Security Guard

Reporting to the Security Supervisor, the Security Guard is responsible for operating the Mine and Mill security gate houses and monitoring all activity coming on or leaving the Mine and Mill sites. Other duties will be assigned as per operational needs.

The list of duties and responsibilities below is not exclusive or exhaustive, and the employee will be required to undertake such duties as may reasonably be expected within the scope of the position. All employees are required to be professional, cooperative, and flexible in line with the requirements of the position.

Operational Planning and Technical Execution

  • Record all employees, contractors and visitors arriving or exiting the mine/mill site.
  • Conduct personal and/or vehicle searches as directed.
  • Conduct security rounds of the site infrastructure and surrounding property.
  • Tag and record mine haulage truck information.
  • Completes reports by recording observations, completing incident reports, conducting interviews, and investigations as directed.
  • Provide assistance, support and protection to managers as needed for employee issues.
  • Administer first aid treatment to injured employees as required.

General Administration and Controls

  • Control and monitor CCTV systems.
  • Inspects and adjust Security systems, equipment, and machinery to ensure operational use.
  • Ensures all of McEwen Mining safety rules, regulations, and policies are being followed by all personnel when entering site.
  • Maintain a high level of housekeeping in work areas.
  • Understand and apply safe work practices.
  • Follow all company policies and standards.

Qualifications and Skills Requirement:

Reporting to the Security First Line Manager, this position is responsible to carry out assigned duties of a Nuclear Security Officer (NSO) or a tactically trained Nuclear Security Officer at a Nuclear Generating Station.   • Track the auditing all subordinate plans attached to the OHSMS, SOM and ASP, such as SIMP, PSLP and post orders etc. to ensure adherence to the plans
  • Ensure departmental adherence to the CSS respective safety and security plans and programs and ensure accurate and consistent records are kept of all audit activities
  • Ensure all safety and security audit findings are reported and corrective actions are logged and tracked using the Quality Management program process
  • Assist departments in analyzing all deficiencies to identify trends and work with partners to find the root cause and formulate solutions/corrective actions
  • Ensure re-check inspections are carried out once corrective actions are complete and coordinate subsequent unannounced Red Team testing as required
  • Monitor official government publications related to safety and security including aviation safety, aviation security, public security (crime), corporate security and critical infrastructure security
  • Administer the external Tenant Safety Evaluation Program to ensure all companies at Toronto Pearson have a safety program in place that conforms to the GTAA safety standard by:
  • Carrying out evaluations to ensure external partner adherence to the GTAA safety standard using the Quality Management processes and procedures for performing audits, tracking corrective actions and follow up
  • Develop the Safety evaluation program in accordance with current quality processes and modify on a regular basis to ensure that trends or operational nuances are included
  • Audit external partner’s safety programs to ensure the conformance to the GTAA safety standard as outlined in the LTO and Business Partners Handbook
