This is a full-time on-site role as a Security Guard at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Chilliwack, BC. The Security Guard will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment by patrolling and monitoring premises, inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points, and controlling access to facilities.

JOB OVERVIEW 
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Security Guard. 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Contracts & Stakeholder Relations, this position is responsible for performing basic security operations at Sir Adam Beck Hydroelectric Generating Stations, in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and regulations to perform routine security services activities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES  

• Accountable for the health, safety and well being of self and others, in accordance with procedures and standards.
• Control and regulate on-site traffic and parking facilities and maintain employee and traffic flow (i.e. notification of violators to supervisor etc.), and maintain security guard activity records, as required
• Gather and record various incidents in the daily occurrence book and carry out inquiries and investigations discovered during security patrols or as requested by Supervisor, involving breaches of security regulations, vandalism, malicious damage, thefts and other incidents. Respond to requests from police and fire departments, including assisting the police in accident/ incident investigations.
• Perform assigned activities during actual or simulated emergency conditions as set out in the Emergency Action Plan.
• Perform patrols, investigations, and site personnel access control, in accordance with written instructions and security procedures, policies and regulations. Operate and monitor surveillance and intrusion detection equipment.
• Perform routine lock and key control activities and other access control systems and equipment.
• Perform additional duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS 

• High school Diploma
• Two year Law and Safety or Police Foundations College diploma or a minimum of 5 year work experience in the security field is an asset
• Have at least three years of experience in a civilian police force, military or comparable security environment, and/or a Police Foundations or Law and Security Administration diploma;
• Hold a valid driver's licence;
• Hold valid standard first aid and CPR certificates;
• Have good report writing and computer skills;
• Offer strong interpersonal skills, highly collaborative and an effective team player;
• Successfully obtain an OPG Security Clearance

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods. • Monitor CCTV footage and cameras for irregularities and perform dispatch duties for the site including emergency response.
• Perform foot patrols inside and outside the facility.

We are looking for experienced Security Guards to join our team in Barrie!

We are looking for experienced Security Guards to join our team part-time with a flexible schedule. This position is perfect for those looking for part-time work in varying work environments. Members of our part-time team are able to manage their own schedule by selecting open shifts at their own discretion off of our GardaWorld specific scheduling app in a variety of different locations in the region. They also have first opportunity to bid on new open permanent positions should they come available. The part time team is expected to work at least four shifts per month but are welcome to work up to 44 hours (or more if approved) should the shifts be available. 

Successful applicants will have experience working in the security industry in different roles and be able to step in to different positions as needed. They will also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, have experience working in customer service, be comfortable working in all weather conditions and have at least 4 full days of full availability per week. Lastly all applicants must have access to their own vehicle in order to access and work at certain sites. 

Pay Rate: $18.00/Hour
